T2P National Partners Attend Workshops at University of Applied Sciences (FHS) Salzburg/ Austria within Special Mobility Strand

During 18th to 22nd of November, T2P National Partners attended workshops held at the hosting institution University of Applied Sciences (FHS) Salzburg/ Austria as part of the SMS under the project Creating Theory to Practice Centers for Innovation and Employment.

The overall objective of this mobility was to visit Fachhochschule Salzburg (FHS) aiming to know more about how FHS engages in its daily activities, observe various initiatives of FHS with interest to participants (business & economy related), and build network connections for possible collaborations in the future between FHS and T2P partner institutions.

The first day of the mobility was oriented towards FHS’s wood processing unit which is located in Campus Kuhl. Hosted and guided by Ms. Ulrike Szigeti. After a brief presentation of the agenda of this mobility by Ms. Szigeti, we attended class about wood-based composites, held by Mr. Marius Barbu. It was insightful for us to observe the facilities, how the class was organized, and how the lecture itself was held by the professor.

The activities of the second and third day happened in the other campus of FHS – Campus Urstein where we had the chance to hear more about the FHStartup Center. We established contacts with FHStarup Center heads and initiated discussion about a potential cooperation between FHStartup Center and University partners to functionalize similar centers in Kosovo, which was our primary goal. Also, we had the chance to meet Ms. Rieger HoD of International Department, Ms. Arrer responsible for student mobility and Ms. Gsenger responsible for student internships where we got first-hand information about their activities and policies which can be used as an example to update our policies  and to add value to the home institutions.

Activities in the up-coming days included workshops – Working in Multicultural Teams, which was a very positive experience for the team as we got to engage in hands-on activities with a very diverse group of students. We also attended lectures such as: Business English and Selected Topics in Mathematics and Modelling. Hearing more about the startups from FHS Kuchl Campus. Mr. Berge, how he tries to help FHS students get their ideas ready for the market helped us also a lot to visualize our approach. He presented some successful start-ups coming out FHS, which were quite impressive, starting from the start-up doing personalized urns, then the team working with lightweight wood, all the way to the girl who made wooden village maps.

After the presentations and discussion with the team working on start-ups, there was a final, wrap-up meeting with Ms. Szigeti, discussing about the whole program and sharing thoughts about the experience throughout this mobility program. We wrapped up with saying farewells to each other, packed with a great experience, a network of new people we met, lessons learned, and ideas of potential collaboration between all our institutions and FHS.
